About Us

Servant Church is a missional community of believers and seekers, coming from different backgrounds and perspectives to explore and follow the way of Jesus together.

We’re glad to have support and supervision through the United Methodist Church.  We see our connection to the UMC as a living out of the way we are family with all the body of Christ worldwide.  We’re grateful for the ways that being a new member of a big family connects us to diverse people and great resources.

We’re thankful for the Methodist tradition.  We want to ask questions of our tradition and keep adapting it for our context.  We also want to treasure the gifts it gives us, including these Methodist emphases:

• God’s grace is for all, and we respond by God’s help to God’s ongoing invitation.
• Faith should be evident in how we live, both individually and corporately.  God’s salvation is both individual and social – as wide as creation.
• We bring a balance of heart, head and hands to our life together.
• Preaching, communion, old and new hymns, life together and individual practices all create space for us to grow life with God and love others.
• We’re connected to each other, both within our local expression and with other churches.
