Family Ministries

Our hope is that all of our children know that they are known and deeply loved by Jesus Christ, their Creator. We hope to show each child how to respond to this knowledge by learning to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind and to love others.

Worshiping with Children

Children are welcome to be present in the sanctuary throughout the entire service. We have provided space throughout the sanctuary to allow for quiet movement for people of all ages. Additionally, we recognize that sometimes children and parents worship better separately so we offer classes during the sermon time of the worship service. All children rejoin their families for communion.

Supervised Play

Toddlers – 4 yrs old
The only children’s class that has drop off before the worship starts.

Children have a song time, story time to learn basic biblical truths and free play time. We are currently using “Toddlers Knowing God” curriculum and developing our own as well.

Godly Play

4 yr old – 7 yr olds
The Godly Play approach helps children to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play. It is based on Montessori principles. Learn more about Godly Play Here.

Children start by sitting in a circle and listening to a Bible story told dramatically with props. Then children have a free response time to create projects out of various art supplies. Class ends with a prayer and a blessing.

Actors of Light

Independent Readers – 10 yrs old
Older children will go through a Bible lesson with practical connections to their daily lives. They will also engage in a response time that will help them process and reflect on the Scripture passage.

Lessons follow the liturgical calendar and are adapted from the curriculum, Lesson Plans that Work, from the Episcopal Church. Learn more here: Additionally, we often rotate in volunteers from the church to share their stories of faith.

Children in Worship

  • Art Table: kids of all ages enjoy coloring and creating paper crafts
  • Altar Space: infants and toddlers can roam and play with soft toys and books
  • Nursing Station & Changing Station: behind the screen in the sanctuary provides privacy

Parents’ Night Out

One Saturday each month, Servant Church helps parents from our church and the broader community enjoy a night out, by providing low-cost child care with dinner for kids from 2 to 10, at the church from 5:30pm – 9:00pm. This school year (2017-2018), we are partnering with other organizations to bring Lego activities and arts and craft events to kids during these times. For more information and registration and payment details, please see our PNO page here.
