Servant Church Vision of Welcoming Practices
As a community we value loving all and inviting everyone into our church, especially those in the LGBTQ community. As a community we’ve prayerfully reflected on and heard a sermon series about sexuality and gender. The Vision Team created a document to share with our church and with those who might be interested in learning more about our community that reflects our welcoming practices. This document, shared during the service last Sunday can also be viewed here. There will be Vision Team members available to talk with anyone after worship next Sunday, June 11th. This document will go on our website next week. We’d love for you to discuss this with your Life Group. Questions? Comments? Feel free to connect with one of the pastors: Valerie, Eric or Abby.
Cherrywood Children’s Clothing Swap: Saturday, 6/10, 10am-12pm
It’s time for a spring cleaning of your closets! Bring the toys, clothing, shoes, accessories, or gear that your kids (newborn-14/16) have outgrown to the Servant Church’s Fellowship Hall, and take something home that are new to you! You can also feel free to drop things off and not take any home, or come without anything and pick some things up. Leftover items will be donated to the Free Store.
Photos for the Vogts: Saturday, 6/10
The Vogts’ time at Servant Church is drawing to a close at the end of June. But they want to take all the memories with them. Susie Meadows has graciously offered to put together a photo book for their family. We’d love photos of Life Groups, service projects, worship services, etc. Will you please upload photos to Google drive here by June 10th so she can make them into a photo book?
Upcoming Baptism: Sunday 6/11
We’ll have an adult and an infant baptism on Sunday, June 11th. If you are interested in baptism at Servant Church, or have questions, please talk to Pastor Eric or Pastor Abby.
Serving Servant Kids: Godly Play & Actors of Light
Volunteering with kids classes at Servant Church is one way we fulfill our baptismal vows to support the spiritual formation of all of our children. Both Godly Play and Actors of Light need teachers as well as “doorkeepers” who assist the teachers with organization. All new volunteers get background checks, repeated every few years. And we also provide occasional trainings in Safe Sanctuaries practices and methods for teaching and connecting with the kids. We also need admin support volunteers to help organize our children’s programs. And we can always use the prayers of the community for our kids and volunteers!
If you’re at all interested, even if you don’t have experience with kids, please speak to Kristen Hillert, or email her at email@example.com.
Meal Train for Stephanie Candrick and Taniyha
Stephanie Candrick and Taniyha have long been part of the Servant Church family. Recently, Stephanie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has started chemotherapy through oral pills that are showing initial success. One way we can all support Stephanie and Taniyha during this time is by helping to provide healthy meals. Doctors need her overall health to improve so she can become a better candidate for surgery when the course of chemotherapy is completed. The doctors have encouraged a diet that is focused on fresh fruits and vegetables and lean meats (no red meat). Taniyha’s parents are often living with Stephanie, that’s why we’re requesting enough food for 3 adults.
Please sign up for their meal train here: tinyurl.com/SCmealtrainStephanie.
Community Connections – Play Dates at Kensington: Thursdays in July
Every Thursday in July, join Kristen Hillert and Meredith Mackey and all their kids for a time of fun, games, snacks, and books at the Kensington Apartments near Servant Church.
